Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP)
The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program is open to young people aged between approximately 11 and 14 and assists them to navigate through a crucial stage in their lives.
Those in their early adolescent years possess altruism, a sense of justice, eagerness to learn about the universe, and a desire to contribute to the construction of a better world.
The program helps them form a strong moral identity and empowers them to contribute to the well-being of their communities and the world at large.
By developing their spiritual qualities (virtues), their intellectual capabilities and their capacities for service to society, the participants come to see that they can become agents of positive change in the world.
The program adopts a participatory mode of learning where the facilitator and participants learn from each other.
Groups of participants engage in activities such as artistic expression, discussion, drama, cooperative games, study of literature, story telling and acts of community service.
Bahá’í programs for junior youth and teens give youth the tools they need to create spiritually centered lives. Tapping the creativity and energy of each participant, our programs empower youth to become their true selves.
Youth can lead us to a better day! As they learn to lead spiritually dynamic, creative lives youth can play important roles in building a better world.

Sat, July 21 Random Act of Kindness
Today the JYEG made baking jars filled with ingredients for the YUMMIEST chocolate chip cookies. They took them into Langley City and delivered them to people in businesses there as an Act of Kindness and to say thank you for supporting bake sales that previous JY had taken there and sold to raise funds for the Red Cross. They had lots of fun packing jars, eating ice cream and learning how a simple act of kindness can make someone’s bad day turn great, as one person told the JY when they gave her a jar of cookies!
Monday, Jul 30 Visited Magnolia Garden then bowling
Today we visited Magnolia Gardens Care Centre and brought flowers to the seniors, had a visit and sang some songs with them! The seniors were delighted to have the group come and visit! We followed it up with bowling and pizza and discovered the Wacky Bowling is the most fun kind of bowling!
Sun, Aug 12 Drainage Painting and swimming Al Anderson Pool w/picnic

Another fun day! Painting sewage drains with yellow fish to let people know what drains go to our precious salmon spawning stream, we managed not to get covered in paint. After working in the hot sun we had lunch and cooled off in the outdoor pool. Thanks goes out to all these awesome kids!
Sun, Aug 19 Bake Sale to raise funds for The Mona Foundation followed by swimming at the Fort Langley Pool

Today's service project was met with tantalizing treats and happy customers. The kids chose this service project, to have a bake sale and raise funds for the Mona Foundation (www.monafoundation.org). They were met by heavy foot traffic and several compliments on their beautiful and tempting treats, such as candy sushi, cake pops and flower cookies on a stem, as well as their efforts to do a good deed. Their efforts raised $80. Great job! Thanks to all the parents who help the kids realize their service goal.
